While all Europe is still carefree and not aware of the oncoming cataclysm that will be caused by the outbreak of Nazism in Germany, two sanctuaries are being built in Belgrade: a catholic Church of Saint Anthony and a budistic pagoda. The latter is built by the small Kalmyk population which settled there together with the Russians who fled in the face of the October Revolution. In the meantime, a Kalmyk girl Kaya trains swordsmanship and riding, learns foreign languages and throws all men at her feet: from her slant-eyed coevals to the American ambassador. There is also a German, a prospective war criminal. The only one who tries to stop her is Mica Đurđević, a lady writer, an agile member of the Society for Embellishing the Quarter of Vračar, a trainer in the School of Boxing and Swordsmanship… Ironic story about Belgrade today and Belgrade of past times, about our readiness to accept the other.
