The Flooding of the Great War Island is a story about the plan of the government to flood the Great War Island at the confluence of the Sava River into the Danube, so that it would forever float away into the Black Sea carrying with it the remains of a shot Quisling after the end of the Second World War, who was secretly buried there. This symbolic flooding of the island is at the heart of this book, topically divided into four parts which discuss the situations of the boundaries, when life and death are separated only by a gesture, a moment, sometimes a mere breath. The stories are like a panoramic view of the entire Balkans, but will take us even further – to the East, with which, it seems to us, we share a strangely arranged absurd.
